No one knows for sure, because the Nazca culture existed such a long time ago, from about 300 BCE to 800 CE (A.D.)-so there is not a written history of their culture. They are most famous for having built big patterns and lines out in the desert areas of Peru. These are called the Nazca lines. Some people have the strange notion that these were to communicate with aliens, but more reasonably, they were to communicate with their god(s) or were some other part of their religious worship.
