I can tell you the correct answer.

Michaelangelo made an error. The statue is anatomically incorrect because it shows David as intact i.e. still having a foreskin.

David was a Jew and would have been circumcised at around 8 days old.

I don't think the statue was when it was carved. Now it appears neutered!
