I don't know if it will be good or bad for America. I do wonder as to where he will come up with the time and energy to be my elected senator and run for a new job at the same time? We elected him to be our voice in Washington who will speak for us if he is running all over the world trying to get a new job? If senators have that much extra time in their schedule where they have nothing to do maybe we should reconsider if we are getting our moneys worth.

He needs to find a platform first, not just "I'm Barack Obama, vote for me".

Not bad just... too early to say if he can be considered a serious candidate. He doesn't have enough experience (only 2 years as a junior senator, and he lost when he ran for the House of Representatives) and needs to convince people that this will not hold him back. Not necessarily an easy challenge - most people only know him from speaking at the DNC and that's about it. Plus, his Muslim name, Barack Hussein Obama, could easily scare some people away.

Also, a little known fact is everyone thinks he is purely black African American but he's actually half white and half black. So the fact that folks don't know much about him is evident right there.

It would be great for America. First lets compare him to the current president, with his limited experience he was smart enough to know the difference between sunni and shiite, and he was brave enough to say going to Iraq would be a mistake.

Secondly he is a lawyer, who specialises on Constitutional Law, and teaches it. This would be a great advancement from the current president who thinks the Constitution is just a peice of paper.

He has a muslim background and converted to Christianity. All of us were born into a religion, how many of us have personaly made our mind to convert. That says a lot about him and he also has far more knowledge on Islam then any other candidates.

And these are just the so called flaws in him.

Good.

I think we're ready to dump the 2 party system and should open the election process up. All of the candidates who ultimately get on the ballot should be allowed to participate in the televised debates. The PUBLIC are the losers when we only get to see the Dem and Rep candidates. That's why the BEST candidate never gets elected.

I hope he wins. Hillary is just a frigid ***** who craves power. Obama seems to be dedicated to the cause. Sure he may have no real experience, but look at the people we have put in office WITH experience. Does anyone think Bush is ACTUALLY doing a good job?? We just put an alcoholic, drug addict oil tycoon in power for the past several years that's all. Obama would be refreshing!!

It is very good that he is running:

1. the more intelligent candidates in the mix to drive the national debate the better!
2. it is great to see a half-black man as a serious contender and sends a great message to American society.
3. Is good for the Democrats because Hillary has zero chance of winning a Presidential election.

IK think it's good that he is considered a serious contender whether any of like him individually or not. He may not be qualified, but he is being seen as a serious threat to Hillary Clinton. To me, our personal views on the man are less important than finally having a very serious Black contender. I know Jessie Jackson has made half-hearted runs, but Obama's serious.

I dont think he has enough experience as a politician to be prez. Besides, I think the Clintion War Machine will try to destroy him. I dont like either one of them. I am planning on voting republican because I feel that the left is far too light on defense issues.

Indifferent. It's probably too soon for him to run, and he's probably really running for VP and not for President.

It could have been worse - the other idiot Senator from Illinois, Dick Durbin, could have run. He makes us long for the good old days of Carol Moseley-Braun.
