If I love that person and wanted them in my life, I would stop. Most people say... If you meet them and they drank, then you shouldn't say anything, but if the person drinking have increased and it causes a problem, it's only natural for the non drinker to want them to stop. I had a similar situation. When I meet him he drink, but his drinking increased and he started staying out all night '' drinking'', missing work and of course the women came into play. He almost messed up the best job he had and lost me and his daughter. Right now he is trying to stop and I don't know how well he's doing. I think if you like to drink and the person decides, that a drunk is not what they want then they have that right to choose what they want in their life. Would you want to be with a crack addict or prostitute? then that's your right. If you don't think you should stop, then move out of their life and let them find someone that appreciate being sober. Sometimes... enough is enough.

Which is more important to you? Are you going to be bitter if you do quit drinking? WHat is it about your drinking that bothers him? Do you get sloppy, fall-down drunk when you do drink? Why was he willing to put up with your drinking before and not now? Is he worried that you may drink and drive?
These are all the types of questions you need to answer. Once you do, you will have your answer.

I would say, you knew what you were getting, if you wanted a non drinker you should have went with one. If I were to stop drinking i wouldn't be the person you fell in love with.
If they don't understand it on to the next...

No one can MAKE anyone else quit drinking. If the "partners" aren't married I wouldn't suggest they make that trip down the aisle...

well considering I'm not a heavy drinker by any means, could give or take it really, yeah I would give it up. If the person was just trying to be controlling no I'd give him up.

You are not right for each other. Cut your losses and split up. If you stay together you will both drive each other crazy.
