Most states require you to be licensed, insured, and bonded. You need to check with your states Dept. Of Agriculture for the exact laws requiring a landscaping license. You will need to take a state test, and pass to be issued this license. If you are going to be using chemical applications you will need to pass a test also for pesticide applications. However, if you are just going to do landscape "maintenance" such as mowing, pruning, and planting,and not do any construction type work, most states don't require a license, only a business license fee, which is pretty cheap. You will need to contact your states Dept. Of Ag. to determine just what you will need however, as most states are different. Hope this answers some of your questions..
