I think you have to find your own meaning - - one of the people above has said that you have to accomplish something.. and for him this might be true as the society has programmed this value into him so that he feels that his life is only worthwhile if he accomplishes something according to others definition.. may be the thing to accomplish is to throw off all the weights that are imposed on us and to really be ourselves... and I have found that by pleasing myself, being myself, though it was rarely what others expected of me, in the end I did rcve their respect and praise for always pursuing my own path..I didn't expect that.. but the real truth is that in 100 or 200 years, nobody will remember you anyway - - so, you might as well have some fun as long as you don't hurt anyone else - that and maybe 42, whatever the heck that means

80% of humanity, the religious folks, don't need to ask the meaning of life, the church tells them....the supernatural explanation. But the rest of us can't swallow religious dogma, because there's no evidence. Nobody can prove that there life after death, that people are tortured or rewarded after life or that there's invisible spirits running around.

I've come to two conclusions recently:

1. Life has no meaning
2. Life has a million meanings.

First, there's a certainty that death and annihilation awaits not only you, but the Earth in general. It's an astonomical certainty that our sun will supernova and leave the earth a burnt crisp, not to mention all the other extinction level events around the corner.

Second, the million things that give us meaning are the pleasurable experiences we can conjure up during the short period we are here on the earth, in the form of the relationships we have with our kids and other people, and the 'housekeeping' types of purposes. What i mean by that are the curing disease, ending hunger, improving literacy, reducing crime, preventing war, helping other kinds of things.

So the bottom line is, we only have a temporary meaning to life, to reduce pain and increase pleasure, other than that everything is lost to oblivion.

To be or not to be? "To be" is temporary and "not to be" is inevitable.....

Trying to figure out the meaning of life is the meaning of life. Humans are here to ask questions, as is indicated by our curious nature. "What is the meaning of life?" is one question that will never be answered, so we'll keep guessing, and that is life. Of course, if you disagree with this answer, you'll keep looking for the answer, and prove me right!

Many many people don't know the answer to this question. That even goes for some people who think they do know the answer. God created Man for a supreme purpose. And that is (in summary) to obey the 10 Commandments and follow the way of God. God created us, right? And the 10 Commandments is God's law for Humanity, right? So it's simply to follow and obey the 10 Commandments and resist the temptations of Satan.

The meaning of life is not simply to be happy. That is too simple and is open to too wide of intrepretation. One must accomplish something in their life, find peace with God, and mean something to other people. One must achieve universal nobility.

To have a life of meaning, of course!

You decide what meaning you wish give.

Otherwise, life is just a joke.

The meaning of life, or the purpose is to procreate. We are still animals, intelligence or not, and we just do what it takes to keep our race alive. I guess if you believe in God, you would say something like "we need to spread the word" or something, but what does that accomplish?
