I'm considering purchasing the number plate spray which the makers claim can prevent the flash from a speed camera reading the number plate.
Has anyone used this product and does it do what it says on the tin?

Thank you everyone for replying. I posed the question because a speed camera caught out my father whilst driving my car, who was visiting from abroad. To all those who advised, in a somewhat condescending manner, to adhere to the speed limit, I can only say that anyone carrying a pack of condoms in his inside jacket pocket is not ALWAYS seeking or is guaranteed sex!

With modern silent and powerful cars, it is all too easy to momentarily break the enforced speed limit by 10%.

It only works where theres a flash, It does'nt work against lasers.
Someone mentioned mud. Mud has to be thick (thicker that the driver) so the flash cannot penetrate.....but is totally illegal because your number plate (by law) has to be kept clean and visible at ALL times. They do not listen to... "but I've just driven a hundred miles and it was clean when I started".
Better to purchase a copy of 'UK Driving Secrets' . That does work!. Use the stupid 'hand behind your back laws' against them. It worked for me three times.
(and I'm not a 'speed merchant', its just that, some of the locations and the limits just don't make sense!)

Anti Speed Camera Number Plates

You know I've heard of nothing like that in the past, i did hear of using a piece of rubber between the car and plate to deflect the light 15 degrees on to the license number therfore reducing ability of capture by all cameras. it was in the jolly roger cookbook along with how to make a living from rat poison but anyway, don't waste your time or money, buy a map and drive back or country roads, if your gonna speed might as well put your life at more of a risk!

go for it! I've heard it works from my mate. He enjoys sticking his middle finger up at the speed cameras from between the seats and getting away with it, 8 times a day 5 days a week! These bastard creations CAUSE DEATH. Accident rates have not gone down... whilst excessive speed may kill speed cameras have not stopped this... the first time I got flashed by a speed camera I almost killed myself because of the rage of being flashed (it caused road rage and I sped back!)... Speed cameras.. when I see one I keep focused on the speedo and nothing much else because my mate got flashed doing allegedly 32mph! what a joke, our police force are the new nazi party. Im scared that somebody is going to walk out infront of the car near a speed camera because i'll be looking at the speedo.. not the person BANG...

Yeah go for it! get to work early for a change... just keep your speed down in built up areas... If the A13 is on your route you'll save an hour into the city with this spray! lol

I'd think a can of Krylon would be cheaper and more effective. It has a few obvious disadvantages, but it's a lot more likely to keep your plate from getting photographed.

The only sort of spray that's 100% certain to make it impossible for a camera to read your plate is one where you can't see the number on it, either.

I worked with the traffic police on one occasion. In conversation one told me all these things that are supposed to stop speed cameras reading your number plate are a waste of money, Including special number plates.

No it doesn't work. Neither does the plastic sheet with wiggly lines on it to put over the plate. All b****ks.

Just drive at the correct speed through the camera - easy!

No, I haven't used it because I thought it was illegal.

Also, I am told by highly reliable sources that it doesn't work because not all the cameras use flashes and it won't work for hand helds (laser) or number plate recognition systems.

Mud is probably a better idea!

I haven't myself but know of others who have tried that and all kinds of other things: none of them worked. I did run a road block when I was a little younger and a lot sillier. It was great fun, but the hassles of staying low for a month kind of took some of the joy away. I would never do that now, these guys have all the advantages: too bad.
