My daughter is 7 months old and has been scooting around the house backwards. How can I help go forward? She is getting so frustrated. She has the up on hands and knees thing down. She moves her legs and can even go into a siting position from there, she just can not move forward. We have tried to show her but she is very independant even for a 7 month old and gets very upset. We have put toys down to incurage her. And my 7 year old has been crawling around the house to try to show her. Any ideas? I know she will do it when she does it but she wants too sooooooo badly

patience is probably the best policy here. just let her discover it on her own. this will also help her understand that there is no easy way to learn something. trial and error will do the trick. She can't depend on you to teach her everything. however, it doesn't hurt one bit to let your other daughter teach by example. Good Job. and good luck

Its normal for babies to learn to go backwards before the go forward. Their little muscles are learning, but it does take time. It sounds like you are doing everything that you can to encourage it. Putting toys down for her to crawl too, and having your other child crawl around on the floor. Just keep it up! She'll have it mastered before long.

Our daughter went backwards for a month before she could crawl forwards. There's nothing you can really do to help her, except give her a lot of interactive floor time. She'll figure it out sooner than you think.

I would only suggest putting something that she finds interesting in front of her. It will encourage her to go forward. Sounds like any day she will be crawling the right way though. :)

The best thing to do is let her be and just encourage her. My daughter went through the same thing.
