My late stepfather was the only person who encouraged me to get a degree. He knew me only about eight years before he passed away, but he knew me, and my inclinations, best. His influence has certainly made my life more interesting, rewarding, and meaningful.

Also I must say your influence here is unique. I like your approach. A wonderful weekend for you also.

The person who most influenced my life was my mother. Dad was a severe alcoholic and we both suffered emotional abuse daily for years on end. She taught me about the value of maintaining a good sense of humor and how to deal with difficult situations without lowering yourself to acting the way others around you are. I owe her everything and I miss her greatly. I would have to say dad did influence me also as I went the opposite way - I never touch alcohol and have never smoked cigarettes, he was heavily into both and it cost him his mind first and his body second. A huge waste considering I'm told he was extremely intelligent when young.

Perhaps you need to word that a little more precisely...perhaps who has shaped it the most?

Because I believe everyone we come in contact with shapes our life. From our parents (even if they left you at birth because that still influences your life) to your friends to your awful boss to even animals. Everything does. And everything you do (or don't do).

I believe that everyone we meet help shape or influence our lives. Even a stranger reading on a bus can (re)inforce some belief or prejudices.

ARE YOU KIDDING?????? Everyone on this planet has shaped me in some way. It's the chaos theory. Someone I've never met stepped on a twig, and I saw it when I was 5, and thought about it for the rest of the day. In some way, everyone has shaped the world, and the world has shaped me.

Of course, but I can't isolate one, two, some number of persons. Inevitably everyone and everything is affecting me on some level, that's a result of me responding to it and vice versa. ;)
