Origami, cheap, easy to learn, and challenging. mix it with collage to create some really cool art.i love collage, also fun to create. use tissue papers, get outdated wallpaper books from your local home store for some inexpensive items. of course you can add magazine cut outs, etc.
i love crochet for being creative, once you have the basics you can create free form fabric which morphs nicely into wearable art. also, yarn colors are so satisfying, my sister refers to it as color therapy.
