I have a large comic collection I wish to sell all over 20 years old and in mint condition in bags, most are sets.
I have thought of E.Bay but the market seams bad.

As everyone seems to suggest, Ebay is a great place to sell on your comic books. From my own experience, Ebay would be my answer. Why? I too had a huge collection of american comic books, dating from the late 60's through to the early 90's, all in near mint condition, bagged & boarded. I sorted the ones i wanted to keep (favourite artists/writers etc) then sold the rest to my local comic shop. This amounted to 10 comic boxes full, gems, fillers, full sets, signed, limited, rare etc, which i now wished i had kept to sell via Ebay. The return i gained from the comic shop was equal to around an average of 10p/15p each!!
I later sold one comic box of mixed stuff (not nearly as collectable as the others) via Ebay, which netted me around £180 profit (this amount after Ebay/Paypal/postage costs) which was a huge difference compared to what i gained from a comic shop! If you are familiar with Ebay and can put up with taking a little extra time to sort/grade/split into sets/lots or individual issues, then arrange your postal methods, Ebay would be my suggestion to gain the maximum amount for your collection!
I hope this will help you make your decision?
All the best & good luck...
Mel. :)

E-bay is by far the best place to sell comics-there are hundreds of thousands of comics listed every day. Auction houses would only be interested in very high-value collections. If your comics are from the last 20 years only there is no way they would be interested-they simply aren't valuable enough. That's not to say you don't have some good stuff in there though (do you have Amazing Spiderman #300?)The market isn't bad-there is just a lot of competition.Your strategy should depend on how fast you want to sell and how much time you want to put in selling them. If you want the maximum value I would break up your collection into three parts. High dollar (over $20) single issues, runs (consecutive issues of on-going series, at least 8 to 10 in a row, or complete mini-series), and common back issues. Then explore internet auctions with E-Bay being the most obvious. The problem here is competition driving down prices. After you have identified your key single issues, look around E-Bay and see what they are going for. If you like what you see, list them. For the runs I would suggest half to two-thirds guide value. For common back issues, the more you list together and the cheaper your reserve, the more likely they are to sell. If all that is too time consuming, index them and list them all together-remember you are going to have to ask for well below guide value. You could try your local comic shop (IF they carry back issues- alot of them do not) but they are likely to give you the lowest price (obviously they have to make a profit and back issues turn very slowly and cost a lot in labor). They may also want to cherry-pick the best material, but only do that if you need fast cash or don't want to invest the time in selling them yourself .

Hi!

Ebay is ok for a quick turnaround.

However, check out your local auction houses. They'll be able to help you with specialist auctions where your collection would have the best chance of getting a top price for you.

Best of luck!
