First, I do not know where you are geographically located. I live in the north eastern part of PA. The deer problem is enormous. Our spring and summer months are over-run with the deer population. Years ago I tried all kinds of repellents ,from:human hair, coyote urine, bar soap(Dove)and different chemicals. After much trial and error, along with tears, I finally found that a product called "Liquid Fence" works very well. It comes concentrated or ready to use. It is a spray that has an awful odor when applying, but dries after a few minutes, becoming odorless to humans. In the winter months I have to wrap my bushes in burlap, to prevent them from eating those. I hope you can find the Liquid Fence. That is the brand name, others I have tried do not work.Good Luck and happy gardening!

I have the same problem!!! My great grandma came up with a homemade spray that you spray on the plant. Mix an egg, hot sauce and water, and put the mixture into a spray bottle. Use it to spray on the plants. If that doesn't work, then there is an automated sprinkler system that has a sensor that sprays everything. Deer hate it. Good luck with your deer problem! EDIT sorry to Jordan S I didn't realize that he had already mentioned the sprinkler system....

Set up a deer feeding station. If your site is large enough, plant some native plants the deer can enjoy during the winter months. They will always go for the wild varietes before your cultivated plants. Just site them some distance from your garden.

Be really sarcastic with them, they find it really demeaning to be talked down to.
Say something like "Man, being a deer must be REALLY great, too bad you got nothing better to eat than my flowers! What's the matter, are you too poor to buy real food?!"
Their egos will be so hurt by this verbal barrage, they will leave your flowers alone.

Hungry deer will eat almost anything. Try to plant things that they don't eat. You might also put soapy water on the plants.

I like the shoot and cook method but try garlic. You can buy garlic oil in small containers that clip to plants.

My Uncle-in-law swears by bars of ivory soap. He puts them all around his plants and I think even in the trees.
