An RN program is two years of coursework, but whether you choose to get an AS or a BSN will depend on the length of prep. Either way there are quite a few prerequisites that may take up to a year to cover.
With the nursing shortage, no employer cares if you have a community or university degree. The only time the degree level is important would be in the consideration of choosing a candidate for director, etc.

It can take either 2 or 4 years. You can get an Associates degree and take the Nurses Exam but it might be hard to find a job because most of the hospitals want you to have a 4 year degree because they are more detailed cirriculum. Either way its lots of studying and schooling.

To get into nursing school whether that be ADN or BSN you need two years of pre-reqs and then 2 years in the nursing program, both take around 4 years to complete. You will have more options going the ADN route as usually there are more ADN programs then BSN. to bridge from ADN to BSN is one year of full time class work, mostly managerial and paper writing courses. Its silly they both take 4 years and have differently titles.
