Why is it that whenever I ask a question about an XBOX 360, someone says that I should not buy retail and get?

Because they suck.
You should report such people. They are probably advertizing their
specific brand of BS....

Think of it this way. Is anything else in life free?
Why is this any different....

You should purchase an Xbox 360 from a store, because they have a one-year warranty on them from Microsoft if they end up dead. The websites that they show are full of spam and ads - they are not real.
