Why did people video concerts back in the sixties and seventies, no one had VCRs or DVD players?

A lot were filmed. I had a super 8 mm camera and projector.
Did about as much with it as I do my camcorder now.
I transfered them to tape later,as I'm sure a lot of concerts were.

People had film projectors to play the videos.
