Did it strengthen your relationship? Did it make it worse? Why did you feel you had to it?

My partner is currently working in a Poland for a days....infact he's due back tomorrow. I have missed him terribly . ....but also, I can't help but feel that we should do this more often. I've been under a terrible strain with work and adjusting to moving in with him (7 months ago)....sometimes a break would be nice but I feel almost guilty from feeling it. Of course I mean a break from each other....I'm not interested in finding someone else, I just think some individual space would be nice. Opinions and suggestions please

Perhaps living by yourself is what you need. Explain to him that you don't want to live together until he asks to marry you. Tell him you need space. He'll understand. This is one way of finding out how much he is committed to you, and how much you can trust each other. In a short time you will know if your relationship strenghthens or not.

You're certainly not ready for marriage but you are on the right track. I definitely believe in "breaks" in partnerships and even marriage. They come in different forms however. You can take a break by doing things with friends or family or you can go somewhere by yourself just to get away. I see nothing wrong with married people doing this also. We all need time for ourselves. I believe that taking a break from your partner can breathe new life into your relationship.

Sometimes being apart from someone you love helps you realize how much you love them and how you don't want to be with out him.
