well i would say do some push ups to so you can make stronger passes. Work on lay-ups and do the things that the team would do at a regular practice. maybe go to a court and do some shooting from different positions.work on free throws and run some sprint because theres alot of running involved in basketball. work on defense and getting low .and dont worry about our height , pointgurds are usually shorter then post players and you say your good with ball handling so you'd be perfect!
good luck and i hope you make the team =)

You need to get in REALLY good shape this summer and work on spped/quickness. Get some info on plyometrics off the net. And definitely focus on ball-handling. If you have great quickness and a good handle, you will have a spot on the team, regardless of your height.
Try to st up a schedule over the summer where you set some time aside each day to work on these things. Three months later you will be way ahead of the game.

Practice, practice, practice. As for being small don't start worrying quite yet you are only 15 so you have plenty of time to do some more growing. You will probably grow quite a lot between now and the time for tryouts next season. This is why you must practice as often as possible because your changing size will change your shot and how you move away from the ball.

im in 9th grade at Jesuit High School (ranked 11th in nation) and im on the freshman team. the most important thing to do is to be in great shape. if you can out play and out hustle the other kids trying out, you will make the team. a coach would rather have a player that can play great defense, is quick, and can hustle rather than a kobe bryant type player who can make a shot almost anywhere, but get burned on the other end of the court. so, just get in great shape, and you'll make the team

(1)Practice (2)Watch small point guards on T.V. and how they play, such as earl boykins, nate robinson, and nash(A little taller).
(3)Play A LOT over the summer with players who are more experienced than you. (4)Since you are only 5'3, you must be athletic, so make sure you're in GREAT shape.

Be the best passer you can ever be. If you can pass the ball with great ball handling, you can be ideal point guard.
