I have been reading a previous question about how expensive is to live in Egypt.
I am going to get married with an Egyptian boy, we would like to live in MAADI, CAIRO, so I am asking you for your kindest help.
Could you please tell me how much is the rent for an apartment or flat, with furniture and without furniture, that has living room, dining room, kitchen, bathrooms and 3 bedrooms?
And how much does it cost buying an apartment, flat or house with the conditions mentioned above?
Thanks a lot in advance!

In Maadi rent starts from 1500 Egyptian pounds to 10000 per month.
To buy it starts from 150 000 EGP to 10 millions EGP
Many foreigners are living there and it's not very crowded like the rest of Cairo (it's part of Cairo)
In Cairo almost the same rent starts from 1500 to 8000 or 9000 EGP per month.
To buy starts from 70 000 EGP to 15 millions EGP
Cairo has many problems as it's very crowded and polluted, but there are everything there specially in the evening and night. It never sleeps. It's the centre and one of the biggest cities in the middle east.
I can't tell better than the above answer about Ismailia, but it's really nice, small, clean city and not far from Cairo. At night or evening you'll feel bored if you are an outgoing person or you like the big cities.
My personal feeling: I'm living in Cairo, but I would go and live in Ismailia if I can work and do everything there.
Wish you all the best in Egypt and welcome among the warm Egyptian hearts.

I would go for Maadi, because it is very cosmopolitan, with many different nationalities and all the things you will need. Maadi is also very safe, quiet and away from the crazy traffic of the rest of Cairo.
For an apartment like you mentioned, a nice one, expect to pay at least $800, probably more. An unfurnished will start at less of course.
Ismailia is a nice city, i've been there, but i would not recommend living there. Moving to Egypt will be a culture shock and Maadi will alleviate this shock, Ismailia will not. Maadi is an open minded area, where women can walk around in shorts even, you will not be able to do anything of the sorts in Ismailia. There is not much to do there at all.
If you want to buy something in Maadi, well, i believe an apartment like you described, would be no less than say, $100,000, give or take a little.
So bottom line here is stick to Maadi and don't even think about Ismailia, you will not be happy there.

Maadi is greeeeeaaaaaaaaaaatttttt
really, its the best here, exactly as Mohamed K said, i have no more info to add, but this is just to confirm what mohammed said
it is somehow far from the centre of cairo, so its not crowded, but there u will find everyhting u need, u will not need to go to any other place
what proves this is that u will find many many foreigners and embassies there
to sum up, its the best, go for it, and don't beleive the crap that was said by the first 2 persons

Come, live in Ismailia. That's my townnnnnnnnnnnn.
A good apartment here would cost about 100,000 Egyptian pounds. That's less than 20,000 dollars.
Ismailia is very nice but very quiet. It's beautiful with lots of green areas and places to walk and jog. Life here is much easier and much cheaper than Cairo, but some people think it is boring. I don't know really cuz I have many friends here and that doesn't bother me.

Do not do it. Women are treating poorly by men in countries with a muslin undertone. You will be in for a crude awakening if you do. Egyptian men also are not faithful. Cultural expectations will allow your man to have many girlfriends, but one wife, who is expected to wait on him hand and foot, as well as bear many children. If you are an American, you will be looked down upon and lose any rights you have in the US.
I spent four months in Cairo. It is disgusting. Third world filth. Many of the sections of town have no plumbing, sorry no Wal-Marts either. Traffic is the worse, no regulation, and forget about driving.
If he loves you, stay in the US.

I had a friend from Egypt, egyptians are not good husbands, wives don't have many rights, they have to hide all their problems from everyone, including relatives. It is normal for the man to go out to dinner and leave the wife at home, No women's organizations to help them there, and she and her husband are both highly educated. It is expensive to buy a flat -i think the family buys it and it is handed down from generation to generation, not sure.It is like Turkey and I've been there, apts.are filthy horrible, you will spend your life crying.
She told me if you have to obtain important papers or anything official, the clerk will just throw all your completed forms in the basket if he doesn't like you, or you don't give him extra $.
she also said no a.c. or elevators in most places, good luck my dear. I would not do it. That place will swallow a young American girl like you and spit you out.
