Cork is a GREAT flooring for slippery areas. You can either lay a cork mat or just have cork flooring put in the area. We have it in an entrance the kids use and it's wonderful...and extremely easy to keep clean. It also looks really nice no matter how often they walk over it.

depending on the type of flooring that you are referring to. If it is ceramic tiles there are some treatments that can be applied to make them no slip. if it is some other surface you could always get some no slip mats but make sure that they wont slip across the floor to maybe rubber backed ones would do the job

If it is concrete, you can buy a grit additive to apply to a concrete paint or mix with a floor sealer.
Available at Lowe's or Home Depot.

Replace them? Put down carpet. Or runners. You don't need a back injury.
