This movie has what every musical wants: a good story AND good songs. Some of the songs make you want to get up and sing and dance, like "If I Were A Rich Man" and "Matchmaker". Others, like "Tradition" make you think, and "Sunrise Sunset" brings you to tears. I laughed, I cried, I LOVED it!

You mean the 1960's film? Yes, I very much enjoy it. I believe the man who played Tevye won an Acadmy Award for that part. I was in a "Fiddler" production at my school- I was Tzeitle. I think the movie is absolutly brilliant though, and I love all the songs.

Many years ago, when I was just a lad, I was an usher at the Shubert Theatre in Century City (CA) when "Fiddler on the Roof" came through for a month's run, starring Zero Mostel. He was absolutely BRILLIANT in the role of Tevye (which he originated), but, I have to tell you...the rest of that cast lived in total terror of him! Those of us who watched the show every night could tell how much he altered his performance from show to show; the other actors never knew what Zero was going to do next!

Fond, fond memories.

Fiddler's a great show.

I teach junior high theatre, and I use it as an example of how theatre influences pop culture. I play Gwen Stefani's song "Rich Girl," and then show "If I Were a Rich Man." My kids are always astounded to realize that Stefani didn't make up that melody! And it helps me fight the whines of, "Who cares about theatre?/This is so boring!/What's this have to do with anything?"

I loved it!
A co-worker brought it in to work & we watched it together.
Well, I am a prankster. My co-worker had a "thing" for Pamela Anderson, so...I got a porn video of her, removed 1 of the 2 videos from the FOTR box & inserted the Pamela Anderson video, instead.
What my co-worker forget to mention to me was...he borrowed the videos from his parents!
