Here are my picks in each conference and wildcards for making the playoffs in the NFL for the 2007 season:
AFC East - New England Patriots: Always there because of a great coaching staff and owners that are commited to winning.
AFC North - Pittsburgh Steelers: Had an off year due to injuries to too many starters and complacancy of their head coach. Will be going into the playoffs with a rookie coach. Owners also commited to winning
AFC South - Indianapolis Colts: Now that they won the Super Bowl, they will not change their approach much. They know what it takes to get there now.
AFC West - Denver Broncos: Had an un-Bronco like season. Shanahan will not let them forget that hard work pays off. Will make the necessary changes to get back in the playoffs.
AFC Wild Cards - 1. Baltimore Ravens: Will slip a bit due to the Steelers resurgance and injuries due to an aging lineup but win a wildcard. 2. Jacksonville Jaguars: Surprise team of the year. Have a great nucleus and good coaching staff. Will top off their team with additions through free agency and the draft.
NFC East - Philadelphia Eagles: Will rebound from a tough year with renewed confidence and execution. Have the players, but they will finally find a successful formula.
NFC North - Chicago Bears: Will just get better. They now know what it takes to win and will benefit from their experiences.
NFC South - New Orleans Saints: They will show everyone that 2006 was not a fluke. They are a good team that will only get better. They have confidence now and good leadership.
NFC West - Seattle Seahawks: They just know how to win. Best leadership in the NFC. Will be better when they add depth through the draft and free agency.
NFC Wildcards - 1. New York Giants: Will miss Tiki Barber very bad but will find a way to win. Coach Coughlin will have their attention this year and rebound for the playoffs. 2. Minnesota Vikings: Will be the surprise team in the NFC. They have tons of talent that just needs to mature. Will improve the more they play together.

Of the top five teams in the NFL, four of them play in the AFC. In no particular order they are:
The Colts:
Super Bowl champs and now know what it takes. Lots of big play guys on offense. Manning, Harrison, Clark, Wayne, Rhodes, Addai, etc. The very speedy defense will be healthy unlike this past year. Corey Simon returns, Mike Doss returns. Simon adds bulk on the D line and Doss is a big hitter and cover guy. If all comes together, they will be even better than this year. They will have to be to win the tough AFC.
The Patriots:
Definitely know what it takes to win and have been there and done that. This is a tried and proven team. Like the Colts they played tough even with a banged up defense and will be improved when all are healthy. They always know how to make a great off season addition as well. Tom Brady is as fine as they get and is cool under fire. I like their running game. They need Corey Dillon to keep playing at this level.
The Ravens:
DEFENSE is mighty. They will be strong there, but will only go as far as their offense can take them. The Colts proved that the defense is human after all and the offense is going to have to be the thing that takes them to the next level. They need some other big time players on offense to compliment McNair if they are going to consistently compete for the title.
The Chargers:
Here is a team with few weaknesses and lots of positives. Do I have to mention LT? Dude is scary. It took another great team to put them out of the playoffs. Like Indy, they will have learned from it and come back stronger for the lesson. Merriman and Phillips will again be huge for their defense.
FINALLY - The Bears:
Despite being over-matched in the Super Bowl, they are the class of the NFC. Time and time again a team has to get to the door before they can knock it in. The Bears ran up against a Colts team whose time had come. Make no mistake, the younger Colts learned from the more mature Patriots the last few years. Now the Bears are getting some of those same lessons. A smart team will learn from it and Lovie Smith is a smart coach. The defense will remain potent and the teams success will ride on how the offense addresses it's deficiencies. Don't be too quick to blame Grossman for the Super Bowl. They won a lot of games with him at the helm.
Does anyone remember Mike Ditka practically firing Jim Harbaugh on the spot after he threw three interceptions against the Packers? ('93 or '94?) After being cut Harbaugh went to the Colts and they ended up in the AFC Championship game and were millimeters from going to the Super Bowl. Like Harbaugh, Grossman is better than he showed. The Bears HAVE to add some offensive punch. They may yet win the NFC, but to beat the AFC Champ, they are going to need more weapons than they have. As it is it's too easy to cover up their better players.
I've tried to be objective. It's opinion and my own analysis. Don't be angry if your team isn't here. I calls 'em as I sees 'em.

Weren't the Steeler the defending Super Bowl champs? Where did they end their season this year? You win one does not automatically give you a free ride to the championship next year.
Top 5 AFC Teams:
1) Baltimore - with their solid defense and offense stepping up, look for them to take the AFC North and make a stand in the playoffs.
2) San Diego - even with the loss of their coordinators, Schottenheimer has brought this team up well, even with the loss of Brees (who I still believe is better than Rivers). Look for LT to have another solid year, but nothing like the record smashing one he had in 2006.
3) Indianapolis - strong team with a great offense and an up-and-coming defense. Only problem they have consists of two words and could hurt them far worse than starry-eyed fans will admit: SALARY CAP!
4) New England - no one can deny the ability of this team to continually be in the playoff hunt with the apparent turnstyle of players coming and going. The system is solid, but will management finally stop the carousel and pay their players more?
5) Jacksonville - this wild card will solve their QB problem, then come into the new season with a powerhouse RB tandem of Jones-Drew and Greg Jones in the back field. Also, the WRs are developing into one of the leagues more distinguished units. Add to that a smashmouth defense and the fact that this team has been under the radar too long makes them even more dangerous.
Top 5 NFC Teams:
1) Chicago - even with a "faulty" QB in his (for all intensive purposes) rookie season, a battered defense, and questions at RB, this team still made it to the Super Bowl. Imagine when the team comes back at 100% and even hungrier to win and itching for revenge. This is probably the scariest team in the entire league since they will be playing with a massive chip on their shoulder.
2) Seattle - Shaun Alexander is over the Madden Curse. Seattle will be starting with a robust WR corps and Hasselbeck or Wallace will be leading the way, which is good for the team whomever comes out on top. Seattle will address their defensive issues, but they will look to regain their stature in the NFC West.
3) New Orleans - Many would place this team higher, but the secret about Bush and Colston are out and teams will be able to handle them better in their sophomore year. However, the Saints will still have Brees throwing for them, which makes for an extremely potent offense. Look for this team to work on their defense to complete the playoff puzzle.
4) Philadelphia - McNabb will return and with the current stable of WRs/RBs on the roster, look for the offense to explode. Take into account the defense looking to take back their pride in a tough loss in the playoffs and lock down the East. Garcia's presence does not hurt the Eagles in any way, since the QBs both know how to win with this team.
5) St. Louis - look for this team to rebuild that defense so that this explosive offense doesn't need to do everything. That being said, Steven Jackson at RB is nasty plus the strong WR corps led by Holt continues to spread out secondaries. This team can light it up any given sunday, and this upcoming season will be no exception.

1) We're gonna reconstruct Peyton Manning's contract saving us 8 millions bux
2) Freeney is defitnly comin back, whether a contract or a franchise tag
3) Were letting Doss go cuz Bethea played great
4) We still got Mr. Clutch
5) With Sanders back, we can have some run support
6) Were gonna try to get June back, otherwise we'll draft a LB in the first round
7) Addai has learned plenty and is more valuable now that we know he can catch too (10 catches in the Super Bowl)
8) Its possible Rhodes will return too
9) Were gonna probably resign Harper

AFC
East - New England (well-coached, and they always seem to replace departing free agents with cheaper alternatives within their organization)
North - Baltimore (McNair will lead them to another division title)
Pittsburgh (the postmodern Steel Curtain will be back in full force, which will be good enough for a Wild Card berth)
South - Indianapolis (as long as they keep Freeney, they've got a legitimate chance to repeat as Super Bowl champions)
West - San Diego (even though they've lost both coordinators, their players are still intact, and that will be one less worry on the coaching staff's minds)
NFC
East - Philadelphia (as long as they re-sign Garcia)
Dallas (as long as they get rid of TO)
North - Chicago (if Grossman learns from this past season, they're the favorites to win the NFC again this coming season)
South - Carolina (I believe in good defenses, and I believe Carolina has the best defense in the division)
New Orleans (I also believe in good offenses, and not many teams can stop New Orleans' O)
West - Seattle (the Seahawks better hope the injury bug doesn't strike them again if they wish to justify my anointing them as a potential Super Bowl team)
I know that's 6 NFC teams, but both East teams were included on "if"s, so to be fair to the question, I added another team.

AFC
North- Baltimore. They finally have an offense, McNair to Mason is golden still, and there defense is great. They win the north.
South-Tennessee. Yes I said Tennessee. Young is going to get better, if Pacman gets to much better we will call him Primetime, and they had the best record against the AFC south at 4-2 vs the Colts, Jags, and Texans.
East- Patriots. How can you pick against them? They just win, over and over and over again. There just to good for anyone in that division.
West- Chargers. LT is gonna run wild again and the Rivers will learn more and more. San Diego looks real good.
NFC
North- Bears. They will win it because of Defense and lack of talent in the Division. Please get rid of Grossman?
South-Saints. Offense is great, defense is getting better, Panthers, Falcons, and Bucs are all over Salary Cap. Yup it is a good year for New Orleans.
East-Eagles. McNabb is gonna come back with vengance and whoop the Boys for the East title.
West-San Fransico. They got good quick, real quick. They are gonna get better even quicker, look for the 49ers to win it.
AFC Wild Card- Indianapolis and New York
NFC Wild Card- Seattle and Dallas

Well...it's reall hard to make a guess without seeing Free Agency or the NFL Draft...But I can't imagine they'll be much different that who was in the playoffs this year, although don't let Tennessee go under the radar, that'd be interesting to see.
Sorry I really don't have a good answer for that yet....ask this again in May...
