If you have a garbage disposal, run a foaming cleaner through it. A lot of times, there's a buildup where the dishwasher and disposal meet.
If you move the blade in the bottom out of the way, take out the filter/trap and clean inside it. General goop will do a lot to plug it.
Take off the connector under the sink and run a small snake up the hose to collect any gunk. It also helps if you have a shop vac to attach it to the hose and suck out whatever may have accumulated in the drain system.

Unfortunately, I'd say your dishwasher doesn't work! If it won't drain, and you know the drain line is clear, then there is a problem with either the cycle timer or the drain solenoid. It's time to call the repair person.

Have you recently replaced your garbage disposal? If so, the dishwasher usually drains thought it and there is a plug in the garbage disposal that must be knocked out.
If that is not it, I would guess your dishwasher drain pump is bad.

Check the float at the bottom of the dishwasher. It should move up and down freely. If it's stuck the dishwasher may think the water is already gone and not turn the pump on.

It could be that the pump is not working properly. It could also be a question of the timer on the dishwasher being worn out. It's frustrating, either way. Good luck.

Well, If its as cold outside where your at as it is where i live, it could be a frozen drain or frozen pump. The pump in my washer froze the other day. It broke it open and water went everywhere. I hope you dont have the same problem. Its messy :-)
