why don't the cops and the courts impound a dui drivers car?

when someone is caught usuing their car for a crime the car can be impunded and sold correct? well why aren't the cars of a DUI driver impunded he or she has commited a crime? Impiund it at least til trialand if guilty pull the b a s t a r d ' s registration and plates and DL, we got to get these drunks off the oad they are MURDERING innocent people! BUT HOW?
