I don't think it really matters unless they are killing the animals.

I know. And the animal they test it mainly on is bunnies! Its a horrible thing to do. Thats why I always buy products like that at Bath&Body works or the Burt's Bees products, because they don't test on animals. It may be a little more expensive but its worth it to save a bunny.

I agree on the make up stuff , animals shouldn't be used for that's kind of useless human stuff, there is really no need since now it is actually possible to not test on animals. But I disagree with PETA when they terrorize scientific research that will save human's lives, animals are our only way to find cures for different diseases, should we start testing it on kids or old people instead?. That way of reasoning makes no sense and I completely disagree, I prefer to sacrifice a few animals than lose my grandma , sister or dad, that's the only way to find the cure for grandma's pain or dad's diabetes.

A few gorillas suffered at the beginning of their lives but now we have the Hepatitis Vaccine which saved hundreds of thousands of lives, now those gorillas retired and live happy in a huge farm. THAT is worth it, PETA sucks.

I always look at the label of a product for "No animal testing" before buying. Maybelline is a good company that DOESN'T use animal testing and has way cheaper products than many companies that use animal testing.

People are evil to think that animals are O.K. to use to test to products to see if they're safe for humans.

Here is a list of companies that DON'T use animal testing http://www.geocities.com/rainforest/2062/donttest.html

I didn't know this and I won't buy their products anymore. I think that it's disgusting testing on animals. I did know that Gillette razors and other Gillette products were tested on animals.
Why don't the people who work at these testing labs just try it on each other? It IS sad.

Simple - buy products only from companies that don't test on animals - most advertise that fact. Most of them don't test on animals anymore anyway. The best way to bring about change is to vote with your dollars. The fact that only a few do it anymore speaks to what bad publicity it is - most gave it up or never did it to begin with.

I have heard of this and makes me very upset sometimes.
If people want the makeup, they need to test it on themselves, or don't use any at all!
Testing it on animals is just as bad as any other animal cruelties!
So people should just accept the way they look and stop caking their faces in powder and makeup!!!
Or at least make sure the brand their using is animal-test-free before buying it!!!
I have a lot on my mind!

I did not know about Covergirl. What other products that you would find in CVS, etc. was on this list? If I knew which products were tested on animals I would not buy them.

I'm sure all cosmetic manufacturers would be only too happy to stop testing on animals. All they need is for a sufficiently large number of volunteers like yourself to happily consent to having new and experimental preparations dripped into their eyes, mouths etc.

Of course, you'll need to sign a waiver to the effect that if you go blind, have some terrible allergic reaction etc. that you won't sue the manufacturers.

Hmmm... don't see an orderly line of human guinea pigs forming at the gates, do you?

hahahhaha
some of the answers above me are quiet comical
YOU JUST DON'T SEE BUNNYS WEARING EYESHADOW
animals that are tested on such as birds, dogs, fish, guinea pigs, mice, rabbits, rats, and monkeys are forced to swallow or inhale large amounts of the substance
it can cause abdominal pain, paralysis, ulciration or the eyes and/or skin, and swelling, seizures, bleeding before being killed by the experimentor

that's just plain wrong saying "big deal" about something as serious as testing on poor, innocent, cute little animals =|

Did know that. It is inexcuseable. there are many other ways to test products. I don't buy the products.
