We have a young horse that is only about a year. She is a small horse and we are having trouble finding a halter to fit her. She has grown out of her foal one so we got an all adjustable miniature horse halter. Now she has grown out of that. We have tried a yearling halter and it is way too big. Is there another size halter to try? I was thinking a small pony halter but is that going to be too big?

Also, a foal halter is the same as a weanling halter so that is not gonna work and we don't want a super expensive one because in a few weeks or months after she grows some more we will have to buy a new one.

I would look for an adjustable yearling halter....wait, did you try a weanling size? There is a size between foal and yearling. Even Fleet farm carries ones that are adjustable in the nose as well.
You can also by a adjustable nose leather halter and put more holes in as needed until it fits.
a small pony halter should be a little bit bigger than a minature, but if she just outgrew that, a pony will probably still be too big.

Another option is using a rope halter when you lead- they are highly adjustable and customizable, though you never ever want to leave it on when you are not there.

Just buy a rope halter. This way you invest in one halter that grows with your equine. other than that- equines do most of their growing between 6 months to 2 years. So the yearling halter that may be to big now may fit your horse within a month. How you spend your money and what quality halter you get is really up to you.

Arab or other cross heads are sometimes hard to fit. You may have to buy two different sizes and see which one fits better - either a cob size or a full horse size. I'm including a link below that may help. The article is on measuring for a bridle, but the measuring part would be the same for a halter.

if a yearling halter is to big, then maybe a weanling. They also make pony & horse halters that adjust in both the nose piece and the throat latch, those kind adjust from really small to a good bit bigger, I believe those type will work.. hope you find somethinh that works.

they make halters that have the adjustable brackets all over, not just behind/next to the ears. They normally come in this soft material that dosent need holes for the buckle. Have you tried an arabian halter? those run a bit smaller. another thought is a rope halter, or a leather halter.

Look for a brand of horse halter called 'Accents'. They have a big variety of halters that are VERY cheap and they have different sizes then Weaver and other brands.

Welsh cob or yearling arab size maybe. Or just go with a weanling or yearling rope halter if you can't find either.

get a very small yearling halter...they have them but they are hard to find. I got mine of perris.com Im not sure if this site works anymore, but you can look at your local tack shop for perri's leatherwear.
