You should read A Great and Terrible Beauty and Rebel Angels by Libba Bray. The third in the series is coming out in September. Most people who love Twilight and New Moon end up loving Libba Bray as well. Bray's writing has that "can't put down" feeling of Meyer. It is also fantasy/romance...instead of being set in modern times in a high school...Bray's fiction is set in Victorian England at a boarding school. But it is such a magical read. Truly enjoyable.
I also love Sarah Dessen. You might be interested in reading Joan Bauer as well. Particularly her book HOPE WAS HERE. But I have loved almost everything Bauer has written.
Have you read Sonya Sones? Louise Rennison? Melina Marchetta? Jaclyn Moriarty?
I would start there...
For more vampires I would read Peeps and Last Days by Scott Westerfeld. And I would definitely recommend you read Blue Bloods by Melissa de la Cruz. Very exciting. Very intense. And the sequel is coming out this spring. (I just saw it listed on Amazon as being ready for pre-order!)

Definitely read them, first chance you get, they are difficult to find in stores so try buying them from www.amazon.com, or www.bn.com. Also when you finish those look for the new series "Fearless FBI" I just started it and it's great.

I loved a romantic novel called The Time Traveler's Wife. It's in paperback. It has a lot of depth and is very well written. It is definitely a thinking woman's romance. In the realm of classic romance - Emily Bronte's Wuthering Heights is amazing. I've read it about 10 times. If you are looking for something different, Calib Carr's The Alienist and The Angel of Darkness, are both wonderful historical thrillers set in turn of the century New York City (they are the first two in what I hope will be a series). I love the writing, as well, very smart, very well researched. Couldn't put any of these suggestions down.

Glad you read twilight. great book.
i suggest you read an action/suspense book. try agatha's christies And Then There Were None.
(from amazon.com)
Ten strangers are stranded on a deserted Island. All of them were there because of one person, U. N. Owen. Unfortunately they find out there is no U. N. Owen, he is just a mad man out to murder them all. Is it Lombard? Vera? Miss Brent? Or could it be Mr. Rogers? No one has any clue on which the murderer is. One by one they drop like flees. Every time someone is murdered a glass monkey that was displayed on the table disappears. All of the murders follow a strange riddle. Everyone is watching their backs but that still doesn't stop the mad man. This mystery keeps you on the edge of your seat and makes you keep guessing what happens next or who the murderer is.

My favorite I read so far are Gathering Blue by Lois Lowery
and The Witch of Blackbird Pond-This book has romance and a little old fashion, but you might enjoy because you like romance.
There are many others like the series Heartland with romance and horses. Oh, there are too many to name.
I hope this helps!!

My favorite books of the last 2 years have been Holly Black's TITHE and VALIANT. They are very vivid and imaginative fairy and underworld settings, with romance and adventure... no vampires, but definitely other awesome creatures. She also did the Spiderwick series which is a god week long read for all 6 books if your into short stories. I recommend Holly Black all the way tho!

comprehend you mentioned no vampire books...yet i think of Twilight is critical! that's a solid e book and that's in a people attitude, no longer a vampires! it is likewise a action picture. there is: Twilight; New Moon; Eclipse; and Breaking break of day... however Breaking break of day isn't out interior the cinema's yet... If no longer Twilight, then how approximately some Jaqueline Wilson books? they're outstanding!!! and definitely humorous. wish I helped(:
