How can I dispose of kitchen knives safely?

Question

No, I'm not looking for sarcasm - I was just interrupted before I could add details. I thought of wrapping them up as someone suggested but I heard that it wasn't exactly legal. So, I'm not sure. It's just that we have accumulated too many kitchen knives over the years and I'm trying to declutter my home - so anything I don't use is going bye-bye. I just don't want anyone getting hurt from my knives.

I'll call the public works dept on Monday. It's just that I thought of it today and they are not there on the weekend. I just thought someone here might have the answer for me. I'm going to check out those websites - thanks!

Hello,

As with most sharp objects, you may want to place in a large glass or plastic container with a lid. (You can usually get them at a dollar store).

Wrap them in several layers of newspaper and put them in the trash. Bye-bye, unwanted kitchen knives!

Before you throw knives away consider using in your garden if you have a yard and keep one for opening boxes .
To throw in the garbage you could tape it (or them) between to pieces of cardboard and tape to secure.

That's a good question! It probably is illegal.
Stick it in your food grinder (if you have one) and make it all blunt then throw it in the garbage :P
