The other day I was on the phone with my son when I noticed that I had lost circulation in my middle finger. I looked at my finger and it was completely devoid of blood flow. The nail bed was white from lack of blood. My entire hand was tinglinging. It scared me because the blood flow did not quickly come back. I had to basically message it until the blood flow returned. What could cause this? And should I be worried?

Raynaud's Disease most often occurs in women over 30 years old and involves spasm of the small arterioles of the fingers resulting in lack of blood flow. I have it. It usually happens after I am in sudden contact with something cold, like the steering wheel on a cold morning. One or many of my fingers will turn white and feel numb, and it takes a while for the blood flow to return. Lots of women have this disease in varying severities. I don't know if this is what you have but it could be one possibility.

Probably you got so absorbed in the conversation that you put pressure on your
finger w/o realizing it...this happens to me
sometimes, particularly while I'm on the
computer.

Has it happened in the past? How about
since?
