Hip hop is not dying or dead it just that radio is killing the art by playing garbage like laffy taffy and then turn around and call it hip hop.I will give the south their props because they are making money but I am not feeling that style at all!!I hear other artist that are light years ahead of these corporate made hip hop stars from the south but do not get half the air play that these losers get.Check out fight klub to see some fierce freestyle battles and if you are lucky enough you can hear some good hip hop on Shade 45 on sirius satelite radio.I catch it at different times so I cant tell you exactly when it comes on but the artist that they do show case are true hip hop lyricist.Although you will hear duds from time to time it is still better than what you get on free radio.

No, it's not dead. It depends on what you think hip hop is. Hip hop is not Dirty south or the Hyphy movement. Hip hop is anything that involves the elements of hip hop. DJ's, MC's, Graf, and Break Dancing. If you look at P. Diddy, Ying-Yang twins, Little Jon, and E-40 as hip hop. Then yeah hip hop is dead. Take a listen to Talib Kweli and Madlibs new album. Pick up any mixtapes by Neil Armstrong, Vinroc, Daddy Dog, or DJ Bonds. Pick up the new DAIM Graf book. Go to your local hip hop store and go to a bboy event. Then you will see hip hop is not dead.
Hip hop is underground once again and I like it better that way. That is where it belongs. It has no place in the mainstream. Peace

I think it has definitely changed for the worse. I really wish an artist would come around and change it into music with meaning to it.

i'm more into metalish music (System Of A Down and Deftones specifically) but i think its just laying low right now. maybe it will start up again. but i hinestly think they sing about the same thing money, gangs, drugs, and sex.
