If Aureole, main dining room or private room? I believe you have to go private at Fleur de Lys for a party that large. Wondering about differences in food, atmosphere, service, cocktail and wine prices, etc.

I appreciate all the help I'm getting, and would like to add that a vegan, who finds steakhouses offensive, will be part of the dinner party, so I think CP Steakhouse is not a good choice. On the other hand, we have a few men who are "hearty" eaters. Will the portions at Fleur de Lys be enough? For the size of the party, I have to go with a special menu, and the "Fleur" menu is four courses. Will it be OK? And just how much per head do you think an average liquor tab will run? As hostess, I'm footing the bill!

Sorry about the repeat of the second paragraph. Didn't know it would print like that!

if it were between those two, I'd choose Fleur de Lys myself. their food is amazing. I've been trying to get in the kitchen there for some time now. but if money's not a big issue, hell, go to joel robuchon. get the degustation menu, god, that would be an experience. I believe it's $300 though. Fleur de Lys is much better than Aureole. all around. Except for Wine selection. Aureole might just have everyone beat there with their massive selection. don't go to cp steak, it's a steak joint. not too much exciting about that.

I was just in Vegas in January for business and had a delicious meal at Aureole w/ a group of 9.

However......the service was non-existent. You would think a place known for their wine would at minimum have a helpful and attentive somelier. Other then dropping off the wine computer, we didn't see much of him even when we tried ask for help. More then that over the THREE hours we were there (three hours b/c the service was THAT slow), getting our waiters attention to bring more drinks was next to impossible. It was like they just didn't care if they sold anything to us at all.

The last straw was when our waiter chastisted our host for her dessert choice.

Again, the food was delicious. But the service totally ruined it. A three hour dinner consisting of three courses and two bottles of wine between 9 people is just seriously lacking.

I would say try Fleur de Lys, it's doubtful it would be worse.

What made it even more disapointing was the famous Aureole Wine Angels were only seen every once in a while. Of course if the somelier won't SERVE wine to the customers then the Wine Angel job won't be very taxing.

Food at Aureole is a BORE...tasteless and bland.

Why not get the private dining room at Four Seasons Charlie Palmer. Very posh, quiet and it's in the same building as Mandalay.

Also try private dining at the Mix at The Hotel @ Mandalay Bay.

Aureole is the last place I'd eat in the complex...
