Go with gas. Its much more easier to maintain. With a fourteen year old go with a 125cc or if your rider is more experienced i would try a 200cc.

I've seen nine year olds with parent partners on dirt bikes so suggest the question being asked be reversed: Would your
14 year old be good on a 400w electric bike? I've never seen
kids on dirt bikes without all the safety gear and a parent biker
in close company. Go figure.

hmm, well 746 watts = 1 hp so it's about a 1/2 hp machine

sounds way underpowered for a 14 yr old

in comparison a 125cc dirt bike puts out about 10-12 hp

sure it's only 400w? anyway i don't think an electric dirt bike would be very practical

hmmm...i'd go with mabe a 125cc gas, its not to big and he/she wont outgrow it ant time soon, the electric on the other hand will be outgrown....thats just my opinion
