I'm not being funny, but do you not think that you should perhaps have started to read this play when you found out you were to write the paper? I would suggest you try to read as much of it as possible, or at least watch the film!

The idea of writing a paper is to give your opinions, not those of other people.

To answer your question, yes it is a comedy, and although a lot of Shakespeare can be associated with current themes the language used in his books is clearly different to todays language, therefore it may not often be seen (or understood) as a comedy by many people these days. But what was amusing in the 70's often isn't so now, and what we find hilarious now may well seem ridiculous in several years time.

Get reading, but most of all, try to enjoy the book!

A good question!

MSND can be classified in the following genres: Comedy; fantasy; romance; farce. In a nut shell, I would call it a romantic comedy.

To get more information about the play and its comic elements, visit the Yahoo! Education page http://education.yahoo.com/homework_help/cliffsnotes/a_midsummer_nights_dream/20.html

Sparknotes.com has pretty good coverage of the play. Visit the site directly at http://www.sparknotes.com/shakespeare/msnd/

And the next link is a short essay that addresses the same question. Not an example of a good essay, but perhaps useful. It is not comprehensive and wouldn't pass muster in college, but could be beneficial to look at . Do not copy it though; teachers look on the internet for stuff like this and will catch you if you plagerize.

A Midsummer Night's Dream is by William Shakespeare and it is of course a comedy. If you had studies it at all you would have known that. I suggest spark notes if you're in a hurry. However, the realy play is a pleasure to read, so if youhave time, definitely do that.

A midsummer night's dream was a comedy by Shakespeare.

Shakespeare has 3 categories of plays: Tragedies (in which the main character dies-Romeo and Juliet), Histories (which is based on history, of course-Julius Caesar) and Comedies.

Since no-one died, and its not based on an historical figure, it is a comedy.

I think you are talking about A Midsummer's Night Dream by W.S. It sure is a comedy. You can find cliff notes and a ton of information on it on the web.

I've heard of A Midsummer Night's Dream. If we're talking about the same play then yes I would consider that to be a comedy. Rent this:

It might make it easier for you.
