Vexation or vexing means puzzling more then frustration, "The rubics cube Vexed me, and entertained my children". Vexation was shared by all when she entered the room dressed like a man!"

I knew very well that I had said the wrong thing by the frown on her face and the vexation showing in her eyes and what she said in reply left me with no great expectations for later in the evening.
