There are several alternatives to medication. First, there's always relaxation. Lie down, turn off the lights, get rid of the noise, etc. Some people really enjoy soaking in a hot tub with their favorite scented oils. There's always a cup of hot tea.
Caffeine is always good for headaches. Most headaches result when the blood vessels become larger, or vasodilate. The caffeine causes an effect called vasoconstriction, which reduces the size of the enlarged vessels.
I know some in the alternative health arena who swear by hematite. Hematite is a crystal, stone, rock, or whatever you want to call it that possesses magnetic properties. So, people will take a piece (maybe more than one) and place it over the area of the head that is painful. All of this is going to depend on what works for you. What tickles your fancy, and what do you feel comfortable with?

I've had a lot of headaches in the past. Whenever I get one I drink lots of water. Most people get headaches due to dehydration so its usually the best place to start. If that doesn't help ask yourself, Am I tired? Have I been reading, watching TV, or working on the computer in excess? These areas are also usual causes of headaches. I used to have the white background on Microsoft but now I've switched to the blue and its a lot less stressful on my eyes. Also are you watching TV or working on the computer in dim lighting this could also be straining on your eyes causing headaches. So all in a nut shell usually headaches happen because of something you are/aren't doing. Make sure your fully hydrated, nothing strenuous on your eyes and have enough sleep. If all of these areas are completed this might sound kind of weird but exercise is where I look next. After a workout and clearing my mind my headaches usually go away. I don't ever take medicine for my headaches and its almost always one of these areas that cause them.

The thing I find most effective is to have a cold glass of water (some headaches come from dehydration), and then I lay down in a dark, quiet room (or just close my eyes). If I have time, I take a short nap and it leaves me totally refreshed and without headache.

I also pinch my hand and massage it between my thumb and first finger.

For really bad headaches, I put a cold (wet) towel on my forehead when I lay down.

If all else fails, my last option is ibuprofen, and sometimes I do have to resort to it when I don't have the option to take a nap/close my eyes.
Good luck, and I hope you're headache free!

Try getting rid of whatever is causing stress on your body that is giving you the headache. If you suffer from migraine avoid eating chocolate. Drink an ice cold glass of water, relax and try to get some rest. If you constantly have headache, you might be sensitive to electronic pollution. Try investing in a Phillip stein watch (www.phillipstein.com) available at all Diamonds International store.

Headache is a pain in the head, scalp or neck. Headaches can be
caused by minor problems like eyestrain, lack of coffee or more
serious reasons like head injury, brain tumors, encephalitis and
meningitis. Taking painkillers continuously can have harmful side
effects, so it is better to modify your lifestyle. More information

EASY - Soak a strip of brown paper (paper lunch bag folded into a strip) in a bowl vinegar. Place across your forehead and lay down quietly for 30 - 45 minutes. This should eliminate your headache, chemical free too!!!

PEACE & GOOD HEALTH

Put some gentle pressure to the back of your neck while you are lying down for about 10 to 20 minutes.

You can also use a cool or warm washcloth in this area.

This always works for me and my girl. Take one of your hands and press it softly against the shallow indention in the back of your head right at the base of your skull. Then with your other hand, use your thumb and forefinger to press at the corners of your eye sockets right where they straddle the bridge of your nose. Press softly at first then firm and hold it like that for about 2 to 4 minutes, longer if it's a migraine. This is temporary relief. I use it when I have no pain killers around., but it works for me.

There is an accupuncture point that can be stimulated by pressing your thumb and forefinger of one hand on the top and bottom of the webbed space that spans the area between the thumb and forefinger of the other hand. Hold pressure there for seven to ten seconds. Repeat if necessary.
