Calm down, you will not panic. My feet were numb for sometime, but you aren't walking anywhere anyway. I had an emergency c along with a spinal, you will be fine. Congrats at becoming a mom.

Don't be scared. I had two c-sections. Once the spinal is done you will get numb immediately. You will not feel anything from under your breasts down. Don't worry...they will check. It is important that you relax but honestly, you don't feel a thing. The whole thing takes about an hr or so. 15 min. for prep and the spinal, then the baby comes out, then it is taken for tests and such, then you will be stitched together which takes up the rest of the time. The lying there after the birth is the longest wait of your life. The spinal wears off about an hr. after the surgery and you are drugged so you won't really feel any discomfort until the next day. It is a very strange feeling.

During the surgery, I felt some tugging as they pulled the baby out. Listen to what is being said and try to remember everything. It is a beautiful moment and if you don't cry when you see your baby...I would think you were crazy. My husband did not look past the curtain. With our first he was so surprised that they handle the baby so roughly and he was so scared to actually hold her after she was cleaned. Get your husband to bring the baby to you. It is a life altering experience for him. You will be fine. Yes, recovery is not easy. the worst was sitting on and off the toilet. you will need help for at least two weeks after the birth. So you know, my second c-section was so much better recovery wise, honestly I bounced back so fast. Good luck...you'll be fine. Ask for Motrin and percaset. It really really helps.

It is easier said than done but no need to be scared. Surgery yes is a big deal but it is so common anymore. I have had three C sections with all three of my boys. You will be completely numb, basically paralyzed but not really. And in my experience it went away in my feet first. Don't be alarmed also if you have some pain in your upper chest it is just from the muscles being moved around so much. I do not wish to frighten you just want you to know everything that will happen. Also best advice try to get up and moving soon as possible it will cut down on the soreness. Being a new mom and dealing with everything is a little scary but it will be okay once you see that little one it is worth every bit of it. I hope in some way I have helped and I hope I have not frightened you. Best wishes for you and your little one.

I know this is easier said than done, but don't worry. The surgery goes by pretty quickly and you shouldn't feel a thing. There will be quite a few people in there to talk you through it and you let them know immediately if you feel any pain.

My C-section took longer than normal because I had to have a strange incision. I could feel them working toward the end, but it wasn't really painful...you mostly just feel pressure. Honestly, I can't really remember where the numbing starts going away first. They will have the baby out in no time and you will be on such a rush from seeing that baby, the surgery seems trivial.

My advice is to walk, walk, walk after that surgery. I'm not going to lie -- it really hurts for a few days. The more you walk around and change positions, the sooner you will feel back to your normal self. I had my last C-section on a Tuesday and was up walking through the neighborhood and doing dishes the following Sunday.

Best wishes for a happy delivery!

I have heard the spinal is much better than epidural. My epidural made my upper body go numb and didnt work on my lower so I had to be under general anesthesia during my Csection. I have heard it takes right away. Just relax and think about that beautiful baby you will see in a few minutes!1 Congrats.

You will be fine just dont panic the doctors do that operation thousands of times so you will be 100 percent fine just think you will have your perfect happy little baby try to focus on that and as for the numb feeling you shouldnt get numb much around youer chest area but if you do its okay that will go away before your feet but again it will all pass and remember you will have a special baby forever so it is all worth that hey good luck to you and your bundle of joy.

I had a spinal when I had a partial hesterectomy i did not like the feeling of being placed to sleep so i chosen the spinal, it did not handle me, so that they ended up putting me to sleep, no longer particular if it has replaced a lot considering then this grow to be 12 yrs in the past yet you need to remain flat for 12 hours when you've the spinal. i'd be performing some learn on it and asking the medical professional about it.

I had 2 c-sections..With the 2nd one I actually did start to have a panic attack..But it was when they had me lay down. I started to panic when the numbness went to my chest area. But I had the bestest anestigealogist(I killed that word) in the world. And he just calmed me down. Then they brought my husband in and then I was fine. The numbness will go away from your chest first then your legs and feet. All I can say is just try and relax. All I can say is yes it is kinda scary but when you see and hear your baby you will completly forget about the surgery and just be focused on your baby..GOOD LUCK and CONGRATS!!!!

Make sure to walk and make sure not to be embarressed to pass gas..It will make you recover alot faster..

I had a c-section and felt everything. I am not telling you this to scare you but let them know if your medicine didn't take. MY epi didn't take and I had four or five of them. I ended up on morphine and I didn't care after that. They will have an anesthesiologist right there with you the whole time monitoring you and your pain. Just let them know, I didn't and finally couldn't take anymore and they were almost done by the time I told them that I could feel everything.
