Obviously someone doesn't remember it correctly. Perot was pretty much even in a three-way race before dropping out on the eve of Clinton's acceptance speech at the Democratic National Convention, while Bush was on vacation in Wyoming, giving Clinton a receptive audience for his New Covenant speech. Perot later got back into the race and took 19% of the popular vote, allowing Clinton to get elected with only 43% of the popular vote.

He gained it for Clinton. purely conservatives and Republicans voted for him, those votes could have long gone to George Bush in any different case. Clinton have been given 40 3%, Bush 36% and Perot 19%. upload Perot's to Bush's and bush could have gained 55% to 40 3%. Perot is the only reason Clinton became elected..

I changed my mind and abstained, a lot of people voted for Perot anyway even after he showed he had a screw loose, thats just how mad they where at BUSH. Perot handed the election to Slick Willie

He appealed to the right wing conservatives, mostly from the Bush side. He stole away enough votes to allow Clinton to win. The same thing happened with Nader in the Gore Bush contest.

If you will remember, he dropped out of the race. He did not steal votes from anyone. I campaigned for him and I know what happened.

In the end, Clinton won, and that was a good thing.

Rather than be a rout it was a landslide. Either way, Clinton was beating Bush.
