its called the caul and my son was born with the sac on his face ... its meant to be good luck
In medieval times the appearance of a caul on a newborn baby was seen as a sign of good luck. It was considered an omen that the child was destined for greatness...Over the course of European history, a popular legend developed suggesting that possession of a baby's caul would give its bearer good luck and protect that person from death by drowning. Cauls were therefore highly prized by sailors. Medieval women often sold these cauls to sailors for large sums of money; a caul was regarded as a valuable talisman.

Lol thats just a load of old wives tales!

Some babies are born this way, it isn't common but it does happen and won't have any ill effects on the baby!

Was your labour painful? Because my waters went at 10am and my baby wasn't born till 00.30am next morning and my labour was excrutiating! I was told it hurt more because there was no water to "cushion" the baby's head. So maybe yours was less painful because the water sac was intact?!
