I ask this because my car needs new tires and I have a new p235/55 R16 set on my garage and I wanted to know if they would fit the wheels on my car which have P225/60 R16 tires.

They'll fit just fine. However, you won't have more rubber on the road, because the tyre is larger than the rim, and the rim will cause the edges of the tread to curl up slightly.

Don't forget to check the overall circumference of the tyre - changing width and profile will change the distance the tyre rolls in one revolution (profile is a percentage of tyre width) - and will throw your speedometer out a little. In this case, your speedo should read slightly higher than you are actually going (probably around 3 to 5%), but you need to look up the circumferal difference between your old tyres (when new) and the new tyres, since the numbers will be different for different manufacturers - even with tyres that are listed as the same size!

Yes they'll fit on your wheels, but they'll add almost a half inch to the width of the old tires. Before you change them out look to make sure that you have enough room in the wheel wells for the added width, it would be a bad thing to waste good tires because of tire rub.

It depends on the width of the rims. The 235s are almost an inch wider and recommended rims are 6.5" to 8". If your 225s are on 6" rims, don't do it. 7" rims would be the minimum that I would use.

Yes it will fit both in diameter, but also rim width. Good luck!

Yes they would because it wouldn't change the diameter in your new set of tires.
