There are LOTS of good reasons to go to college...but you should only go if you really want to...don't go to escape growing up or because someone else expects it of you. College is difficult, if it wasn't, everyone would have a degree! Anyway, someone has to say "do you want fries with that?"

In the U.S. the main advantages to earning a degree are more job opportunities and higher-paying job opportunities.
When there are many people who want the same job, the employer has to narrow the field somehow. Usually how that is done is by eliminating those who don't have a college degree.
Often the actual subject the degree is in doesn't matter as much as the fact that the job candidate was able to follow through and do what was required to earn the degree.
In my area, a good-paying, non-degree job pays maybe $45,000-$60,000 a year. A good-paying job with a degree pays maybe $75,000-$100,000 a year (and up). For me, it means my degree gives me the opportunity to work part-time and make over $60 an hour.
Another difference is that non-degree jobs often involve more physical labor, and degree positions involve more mental labor.
