The South Lancashire accent as spoken in Manchester is probably one of the nicest alongside a soft Scottish accent (not a hard glasgow-ish accent).

Maybe you're confused with that thicko moron cockney-esque non-accent spoken by muppets like the Gallagher brothers, which you wouldn't find in Manchester.

Brummie and Welsh are least pleasant. Although people who can't speak properly are far worse than any accent. Especially that scruffy bloke advertising the Brit awards who can't say "TH".

We finkt up a good idea and fought it would be good... moron!

p.s. I've assumed the word in your question should be "embarrassing". Or did you mean "embracing?"

The black country accent is worse. The birmingham accent is completely different to the black country accent, but it still isn't the most pleasant. I like the manc accent!

I think the Manchester one is quite nice but not the broad Lancs. I don't think it's the worst, I can't stand the Brum one.
I like Liverpool/Irish/Cockney.
It's not that you should be embarrassed it's the southerners who look down on someone with a northern accent and think we are all thick and still wear clogs and shawls.
Once the Beeb move up here proper, I'll bet they start liking us...lol

Mancs accent is far easier to the ears than the Birmingham/Dudley accent. Thats hard to listen to.

And if you want to hear the worst of the worst listen to Radio Manchester's Terry Christian! What a gawp! His folks should have put him down at birth!

no, I don't think any accent is embarrassing, and if you are ashamed of where you come from, stop and think carefully, you may be turning into a snob, and they are embarrassing

Why are you embarrassed by someone else's accent? Seems pretty anal and petty to me.
