I've read this book too and also thought it seemed rather negative about having 2 kids.
yes, they're hard work but it's so rewarding, something that didn't come across in the book.
all the fun and love you'll have will make up for any bad days 10 times over.
please don't be disheartened, it's only a book, real life is much, much better.
good luck with your pregnancy and enjoy your 2 angels!!

Because I was a strange child with eclectic tastes, these were the books of my childhood that I read time after time, and continue to read even way into adulthood. Mists of Avalon by Marion Zimmer Bradley Sacajewa by Anna L. Waldo Little Women and Little Men by Louisa May Alcott And just because I could never pick just three, I liked these too for different reasons and have read them several times each. Bridge Across Forever by Richard Bach The Thread that Binds the Bones by Nina Kiriki Hoffman Lightning by Dean Koontz Oh and for the record I read the whole Harry Potter series and while I *did* enjoy the books unlike another poster, sharing them with my growing son and fostering a true love of reading was ultimately more important.

i read that book when my second child was on the way,it is hard work at first because you already have your routine with your first child. It just takes a while to get used to,i don't know how old your child is but there were nearly 6 years between my two which i think made it harder in some ways.Wouldn't change a thing though, don't worry.Good luck with the rest of your pregnancy.

I am expecting #4 in May. I love having my kids. They are the greatest. They play very well together, love each other, and I couldn't imagine life without any of them. When I was having #2 I was worried about not loving them all and it being very difficult. I laugh WAY more than I cry and the only time it is difficult is when I am making it that way. Enjoy your pregnancy and be prepared for everything to change. FOR THE BETTER!!!! Congrats!

I haven`t read the book but i do have 4 kids and its not all doom and gloom , the good days outweigh the not-so good days , but people with only 1 child can have rotten days .. Enjoy your kiddies and take each day as it comes , you will have so much fun and remember how quickly those little darlings grow !
Congratulations and have fun !

a seconds childs a blessing. Im guessing shes had a bad experience too but she can't speak for the rest of the population who have had 2 or more children and have a happy family. no1 says its gonna be easy, but it doesnt mean it can not be done.

I havent read this book but if it has made you feel like this then i dont want to either.
i have 3 children ages 9yrs, 6yrs, 1yr and i am expecting my 4th so it will be hard but i'm going to love every minute of it.
when i had my first there was a nice age gap of nearly 3 years, this worked very well.... my sister had an age gap of 7ish years and her children are always fighting and when the baby was born her first was very jelous (i dont think that it helped as shes been a single mum since her first was 2yrs) as hes had her all to himself for so long.
my 1st and 2nd have tiffs but love each other to bits. i have had a few hickups this time round because of a larger gap but they're not jelous they just want to do everything for the 1yr old and wont let him do things for himself (like play with his shape sorter and learn how to do it - or bring me something that i ask for without them passing it him) it just makes it a bit harder making them understand that they are not helping him learn....
the love to help with nappy changes and getting food ready for him not as much now as when he was younger but still i love the help...
i'm not going to tell you that its easy as pie because in truth its not but its also not that bad... you'll find your way of doing things, just try to make as much time as you can to spend with your first born as you will be doing with your second especially in these first few months. Also get you first to help with thigs like passing you nappies and wipes and bathing (if possible) as this will make them feel like part of the family. its so easy to get wraped up in new babies and all the time they take up, but just remember that theres another one too.
your time is the best thing in the world for them...
good luck and dont be disheartend by the book its not painting the whole picture....
