Has anybody been there and if so what did you do, what was it like, and what grades did you need to get in there?

You generally need straight As to get in.

From what I understand it's a different experience from many other universities. Go visit, you'll be much better able to gauge if you are interested after that.

Oxford is a great little city, but as with any degree course. YOU HAVE TO, yes, have to visit the place you're interested in and see whether you could live and study there for 3-4 years of your life. You'll probably only do a degree once in your life so cough up the train fair and spend a day there and see.
I went to Bristol and have continued being an academic, although now based in London. In my own academic career, I have found Oxford graduates quite agreeable individually, but are a bl**dy nuisance in numbers.
