I'm in Middle School-sixth grade, and we had a mile run the other day. I ran and finished with 9:41. It says you should get from 9:00-12:00 and under 9:00 is going "beyond". Well, I really was aiming for about 10:00, and I'm proud of myself for reaching that goal. But somehow, I feel that it's slow. These other kids got like 16:00 or even 17 something. And these other kids got like 8:00 and even below! Somehow I feel like the time i got wasn't good enough. Was it?

Wow. No, that's definitely good, especially for your age. When I was in 6th grade, I clocked in around 10 minutes, maybe 9:45 if I was lucky. Just keep it up, push yourself to improve one or two seconds after every mile run, and you should be proud of yourself.

Good luck!

That was a great time! You did better than most, but not as fast as some. That's ok! If you continue to run every day or a few times a week, your time will improve. If not, that's fine too. Remember, there will always be someone in life better than you, a motto I once found difficult to accept/swallow. You're fortunate to have done so well in the first place. I think I ran about the same time as you. Most likely, those who run track or are even more athletic than you will have a faster time. If you want to improve, take it slowly. You will probably decrease your time gradually, not like a difference of 30 seconds from one run to the next. Take your time and strive for your personal best. Pretty soon you will be able to run as fast as the others! If not, you should be proud and realize that you are fortunate enough to run that fast. Think about how the 17 minute a mile runner feels, knowing he ir she is the slowest in the class. Great job, really!!!

As long as it was your personal best, that's all that matters. I think you did great! Keep practicing and you'll be in the olympics before you know it!

Don't compare yourself with others. If you don't think you did well than try again and try to bet your old score and not someone elses.
