Well, because to most little girls (who grow up to be women), if they have a good, kind and loving dad, no one can ever compare. Some can come close, but no one can really compare. That's the best explaination I can give you...I think its something you cannot truly understand unless you're a woman. Sorry...

Now you know how we woman are about our dads. No other man will ever be able to fill their shoes,now that does not mean that we dont love our guy, we just know that we will always be daddys little baby girl, no matter what or who.

Little girls have and always will put their Daddy's way up on a pedastal. Don't try to compete with the FIL, just be your own man. Someone needs to tell your old lady that relationships change once you get married, and that her husband is Number 1 now.

Alot of women really look up to their fathers. They consider their fathers the best man on earth and nothing can compare to that. My advice is to stop trying to live up to him and focus on being your own person. There is really nothing you can do to compare to a woman's father, so stop trying.

Maybe if you have a daughter and she sees that relationship develop with you and your daughter that she had with her dad, she won't compare - just feel the love all over again.

Why would you even want your wife to look at you like she looks at her father. That would be wierd. I compare them like night and day. If I thought my boyfriend was anything like my father then it would be like having an intimate relationship with him and I would have to break up.

I bet you wife goes on about you to her dad, sometimes its best to just be yourself..comparing yourself to her dad is stupid, he may have his good points but you also have yours....spend time with her dad and try to get on with him...be friends...cause it all comes down to family and you and dad care and love the same women...Good luck..

you never could or should try to stop the love of a father and daughter. you need to grow up...its not a competition between you and your wife's dad. her love for you is totally different than the love she has for her dad...and if you ever try to make her chose...you could be the loser..and by the sounds of it..you deserve to be!
