I am currently planning a trip for Spring Break. I currently live in Tampa, FL, so I am not interested in going to Clearwater since I live 10mins from it. I'm interested in going partying, drinking, bars/clubs, and getting some sun on the beach. I am also not looking to spend a fortune. I've been to Daytona and it's alright. I'm currently leaning towards Key West. Any opinions? I am kind of weiry about Key West because I heard it's a big spot for gay people, which I have no problem with, but I don't want to go if it's exclusively gay.

Key west is fun for the first time, but it gets boring after a while since its so small. I guess stereotypically there are a lot of gays there but there are a lot of gays everywhere, just like there are a lot of heterosexuals everywhere. Either way, you can't tell the gay from the straight people - it really isn't an issue at all. It also isn't as glamorous as the stories and pictures make it seem. It seemed pretty redneckish to me, but the drive down is fun.
I personally like Miami best. Way better parties, better people, and much better beaches. Ft. Lauderdale has some beautiful beaches too, but the night life in Miami is much better.

From a Key West local: We (the gays) are prominent down here, but I'd say the island is only about 25% of the population weather we're talking locals or tourists. It's know as a big gay destination place, but that was more true 10, 15 years ago. Over the years, the straight people have discovered what a nice place this is and come down in masses. Especially when their are cruise ships docking in town.
You can certainly have a blast here. There are only 5 or 6 gay bars and they are on one side of the island, while the straight bars are on the other (which is the cooler side too). We go to the straight bars a lot because the tourists are much more wild and into having a good time. Lots of fun bars and things to do.
If you come, you have to get out on the water. It's an abolute must. Even if it's just some wave runners, it will make your visit much more memorable.
Stay away from Higgs beach- that's where the bums hangout.

Ft. Lauderdale Beach * is getting hotter every year and is cheaper than Miami Beach
South Beach
*** & who ever told you about being so gay down in the Keys is totally wrong, that is a perfect spot and you will feel like you even left to a caribbean island, it is another world, full of bars and great palces to party, drink & eat and ot that expensive. the only ting is that the beaches are not that great down in Kew West...

South Beach. I was in Miami Beach last year for spring break and it was packed! Thousands of people go to Miami for spring break so you'll find all the partying you'll want!

Key West..all the way!!...people say it gets boring after a little while..but you just have to know where to go..an what stuff to do to pick..its a lot of fun..

what's the point of going to Florida in the adventure that they don't like the sea coast? in the adventure that they prefer to swim in a pool, they could bypass to an area inn. in the destiny, you are able to not stress your mom and father on the position to bypass for holiday, yet basically attempt to emphasize to them how a lot the chlorine irritates your epidermis.
