I have Mac and my parents have PC we use Yahoo to chat but it does not work on my Mac ( the voice ).

I think Skype covers both platforms.

I don't voice chat a whole lot, but I use iChat on my Mac and am able to chat with other friends who use AIM on their PC's. Usually a voice chat icon will appear by their names, so I'm assuming you can use iChat to voice chat with them as well. If not, I've heard Skype is good, although I've never used it.

I've heard that iChat actually works pretty good with voice and video, if the Windows owners are using the later versions of AIM. Other than that, it seem Skype is the way to go.

A good option is skype. It's got windows, mac, and linux clients. You only need to shell out money if you want to call normal phones.
