Fashion is many things to many people. Clothing has always been an indicator of ones economic status, financial situation, gender, culture, education level, etc. Those elements still apply today.
Fashion is also a hobby for some. People enjoy looking good and feeling good.
Some people view those who care about fashion as shallow. I do not. Fashion is a hobby for some, the same as watching a football game every weekend. Everyone has their preferences.
Also, don't forget "Clothes make the man"

The fashion industry spends millions of dollars every year to promote their multi-multi billions of dollars industry. Fashion has been psychologically conditioning the minds of people for years to continue to beg for more and more things; to be able to keep up with their friends who are trying to keep up with you.
Personally, I do not care about fashion...I am more interested in the person than their $1000 Goochie or what ever it is. Clothes do not make the person, interesting conversation with people make the person. If you don't believe me go to a nudist resort. you may be talking to a brain surgeon or a ditch digger and never know it.

Because the way you dress reflects your personality.
What would it be like if we all wore the same thing?
We wouldn't be able to express ourselves.
And that is exactly what fashion does ; it lets ppl express themselves silently, through clothing, hair, makeup, etc.
