I know JFK said "Ask not what your country can do for you; ask what you can do for your country. "

But I wanted to know what your country has given you for free or at nominal cost.

I'll make this easy for me. Read the Constitution. Pretty much all of that. Something that the majority of countries in the world does not have and will probably never have.

I own my home, cars, land. I can say and do what I want. I have heat in the winter and AC in the summer. I can associate with whom I please and believe or not in what I want. I can own a gun and hunt and fish. I can travel without papers or permission.I could keep going but I am sure you get the picture. This country does more for its citizens tha any other country on Earth. If you don't believe that go live in another country for a while. I did ... now I understand.

Good question, Just so you understand the fact that we can even discuss such things is one of the biggest things that the USA affords all of it's citizens. We have something called Freedom. Our country was founded on that concept and we the people are charged with the responsibility of keeping Freedom alive. I can think of no greater offering. I was born free and I'm am still free. Know this if my Freedom is threatened I will engage the threat and be victorious in continuing to be free.

My freedom and a good life. Something I would not have had if I would have stayed in my birth country. So I thank the US of A for everything it has given me and now my family. I also gave Uncle Sam 2 years.

my rights and the pursuit of happiness. A responsibility to use the rights. I do not know if ideals are a gift but offset by national debt I wonder about the cost. You know the taxes and death saying. We all contribute to government.
