I am 34 wks pregnant and yesterday I lost some of my plug. Today and the past day or 2 I have had loose stools. I heard that happens before labor. Is this true, and if so how long could it be?

Things are starting to happen! Congrats! :)

Everyone is different. Losing the plug is what indicates your cervix is thinning and preparing for labor. I have 3 kids and each was different. The 1st time I lost my plug, I went into labor 2 days later. The 2nd I never lost it all all (she came 3 weeks early) and the 3rd I lost a BIT of it and went into labor 2 weeks later.

The stool could be an indicator that things are moving along well. Next time you go to your OB he will check your cervix for dialation and give you his/her estimate on how much longer it will be. Its still an estimate, though, because there just isnt a way to know FOR sure when it will happen. I hope you can hold off a bit longer, though, because the baby isnt fully baked yet. :) Having my 3rd born a month early was really rough on us and for her.

Good Luck!

I lost my plug around 36 weeks and my son was stubborn!! HE waited another 3-4 weeks to come...they say normally when you loose the plug its just a matter of days, but I dont think thats always the case. As far as the stools, I know milk and cereal products have had a bad effect on me during pregnancy...have you increased your fiber or eating alot of fruit or drinking fruit juices? Wish you luck!!

It could be tonight or a few weeks.

When I lost my mucus plug, I went into labor about 7 hours later. But my doctor told me that if you loose your plug, labor could still be pending for up to another few weeks.

I would page your doctor just to inquire with him/her to put your mind at ease. Sounds like you are getting close, congratulations!

I never lost the plug, but I did get the loose stools, and cramping. It could be anytime, but not necessarily right away. Every woman is different but in my opinion you are almost there!

It can happen before labour, but it also can happen because of something you ate.

The loss of a plug means very little. It's when your waters break and you start getting contractions that can be more indicative of labour beginning.

I wish you all the best for your baby's birth, and with motherhood :)

You could still be a couple of days or maybe even weeks away. You'll know when the real deal is coming. Good luck and remember to keep breathing it helps to relax you.

I lost my plug the night before my daughter was born. Don't worry, everyone is different.

\\ it can still be a couple of weeks off. call your doc and tell him what is going on . Are you feeling contractions if so go to the emergency room where you will give birth. They will take you right up to maternity and check the fetal heart beat. but call your doc first
