Alex is a girl who was taken by the others when she was a baby. She is Danielle's daughter. Danielle shipwrecked there 17 years ago and her entire crew got sick and she killed them because they were infected. The others came and took Alex from her. Ben is Alex's "father" assuming that he raised her when she was taken from her mother. Ben is not Alex's real father because Danielle is the one who captured Ben who proclaimed he was Henry Gail at the time to get info on the losties. She even shot him with that arrow. Danielle has been searching for Alex in hopes to find her but has had no luck so far. Hope that helps.
Her "father" Ben is the assumed leader of the others...he seems to be running things for the most part but the other's lives and motivations are still unclear. Hopefully they will start giving us some answers

Alex is danielles daughter. danielle was another person living on the island in hiding. The head guy of the others claims to be her father BUT he's not( could be but i doubt it ) cause he was born on the island and danielle shipwrecked there with her love or hubby cant remember. really now is not the time to start watching the show unless you rent the last 2 seaons honey

SHE'S BENS DAUGHTER. BEN USED TO BE CALLED HENRY GAYLE BY THE SURVIVORS, THIS IS BEFORE THEY FOUND OUT HIS TRUE IDENTITY. HE'S THE LEADER OF THE OTHERS. JACK RECENTLY DID SURGERY ON HIS BACK TO REMOVE A TUMOR.
